One provided postgraduate scholarships to suitably qualified candidates who will have a good Honours degree in social science or health disciplines to conduct research studies leading to PhD in occupational health. This scholarship is funded by the ARC Linkage Project grant and will provide support for three years full-time.
The successful candidate will join a research team in a dynamic work environment and stimulating. This project entitled Caring for Carers: Health and Safety in Homecare. Provision of home-based care is a significant and growing area of work in Australia. Homecare workers are very vulnerable client support. At the same time, they themselves are exposed to significant health and safety risks, which has not been investigated. This project will identify OHS risks and hazards in the work of homecare. PhD student’s research will examine the OHS risks and hazards in one type of homecare work – youth services. Their research will contribute to the development of intervention to secure the workplace healthier, safer and more sustainable for homecare workers.
Eligibility:
Applicants should have an Honours 1 or 2A Degree in a social or health sciences discipline. A Masters level qualification or background in occupational health and safety, industrial relations or work psychology would be an advantage. International students can apply, but the scholarship does not cover any tuition fees payable by international students.
Amount awarded:
The scholarship is valued at $27,222 per annum (tax exempt) and may be renewed for up to three years, subject to satisfactory progress.
